Spells, Curses, and Bitter Words

Things I Wish I Didn’t Have to Write About

I had been struggling with feeling poorly in a vague kind of way that just would not improve no matter the home remedies I tried. I felt tired but restless. Guilty about not being productive, but too heavy and fuzzy to be productive.

“So what,” I asked the Lord, “is going on?” His answer came while I was sleeping. “Witchcraft,” He said.

Witchcraft is mentioned often in some Christian circles, but rarely have I heard a coherent definition. Some call a Christian’s fearful, controlling prayer witchcraft, but I don’t think that is witchcraft in any true sense. More likely a believer is praying from a lack of knowledge.

Intentional witchcraft involves casting spells and curses with the intent to do harm. Witches, warlocks, Satanists, and Luciferians – and God only knows who else – consider Christians their enemies. As a prayer minister, I have had two Satanic cult members sent to me at different times disguised as needy people seeking help. When the Lord exposed their true motive, they abruptly stopped their sessions. Which was sad because both appeared to have been groomed from childhood to follow the orders of truly evil people.

That kind of attack is pretty obvious. But what about spells, curses, accusations, and even bitter words sent against God’s people to confuse and discourage them?

Such attacks may be intentional in the case of spells and ritual curses, but even the accusations and bitter words we speak against each other may be weaponized by evil spirits.

The truth is this. Evil spirits have no authority of their own, having been stripped by Jesus (Colossians 2:5). But they can use our authority as God’s image and use our words to harm someone. This is especially true when words are spoken with the intent of inviting demons to do harm. But what about the bitter words and accusations we speak when we are upset? They can use those words, too. Demons can use words spoken in the heat of the moment, claiming that our words have commissioned them to attack whoever we are mad at.

Does that mean that words give demons a legal right to attack? I do not think so. I think that demons are opportunists. They partner with words spoken by God’s image. It is our authority that loads the weapon.

So what do we do? People are saying nasty things all the time. First, we repent of the nasty things we have said, especially any time we have wished harm on another. Then we recognize that as children of God we are not subject to demons or to people who partner with demons. Look at Luke 10:17-19.

The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

According to Jesus, demons are subject to us. Watch my YouTube video series Demons Are Not The Boss Of You for more details.

This means that even if a human being orders an evil spirit to harm you, you are not subject to that spirit. Now, there is nothing we can do about a person choosing to use free will to hate, criticize, judge, and curse. But we can stop the demons from piggy-backing on it.

There are levels of cursing, ranging from the bitter words of grumbling, disgruntled people to ritualized cursing and spell casting. Here is a strategy that handles all levels.

First: Tell all demons partnering with any human words spoken against you, your family, relationships, ministry, work, or anything that your life touches that they are not allowed to attack. In other words, tell them no. As you apply the following strategy, I encourage you to speak directly to the spirit world. Don’t just mumble a prayer. Speak with intention.

Like this: Demons, you will not use the words of humans to hurt me or anything my life touches. In the name of Jesus, I forbid it.

Second: Once you have forbidden the attacks, sever the partnership between the human and the demonic.

Like this: I forbid any demon from partnering with any human to harm me or anything my life touches.

Third: Commission your angels to go forth and destroy all such partnerships.

Like this: Angels, I commission you to destroy all human and demonic partnerships that have formed in order to harm me or anything my life touches. I send you forth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Fourth: Break assignments.

Like this: I break all demonic assignments against me and anything my life touches in the name of Jesus. I reassign all demons to the feet of Jesus. Angels, take them there now.

Fifth: Send the curses to the cross.

Like this: I send all spells, curses, accusations, and bitter words to the cross of Christ to be destroyed.

Last: Clean up.

Like this: Lord, please cleanse me and mine from all demonic defilement and remove any demonic devices that have been placed on us. I ask in the mighty name of Lord Jesus.

I think that covers it. Demons do just as much as we allow. And sadly, we allow too much. By the by, I am feeling much better. And you can see that I am able to be productive again.

Many blessings to you! And I exhort you to be joyful! The devil hates joy.

God bless,

Susan
